Ida B. Wells Donations

Each year, MBWA holds the Annual Ida B. Wells Awards Celebration, an annual fundraising event, to celebrate the accomplishments of Black women attorneys in Massachusetts. Specifically, the Ida B. Wells Award is given to Black women attorneys who have made significant contributions to the legal profession and exemplify the pioneering spirit and courage of Ida B. Wells. This event, made possible through generous fundraising efforts, as well as donations of MBWA members and friends, supports MBWA initiatives, such as our professional development seminars, scholarships, and community service outreach. Blanche E. Braxton Bar Scholarship

The goal of the scholarship is to promote diversity in the legal profession in Massachusetts by providing financial assistance to a member of MBWA while she studies for the Uniform Bar Exam and Massachusetts Law administered by the Massachusetts Board of Bar Examiners. This scholarship is made possible through the generous donations of MBWA members and friends, and MBWA fundraising efforts.

General Donation

This fund is to support the MBWA mission, which is to assist in ensuring the fair and even-handed administration of justice, particularly as applied to women of color. MBWA is similarly concerned with social policy and civil rights issues in the greater minority community. Each year, the MBWA offers 3 to 4 panel discussions and the opportunity to participate in various community service activities. MBWA also co-sponsors diversity-related programs and events with our fellow affinity bar partners and other professional associations.
